SkyTrak+ doesn't run software on its own. Every route, whether it's the SkyTrak app's built-in Course Play or a third-party title like GSPro or E6 Connect, sits on top of a SkyTrak membership, so that yearly fee is the first number to add up. The device you already own comes next. GSPro and TGC 2019 are Windows only, WGT runs only on iOS, and E6 Connect covers Windows and iOS. The SkyTrak+ review covers the unit itself if you're still deciding on hardware.

Owners usually arrive with two questions: what will this cost every year, and will it run on the device I already have? This page answers both up front. A device matrix shows which titles run where, and a three-year cost table shows what each combination adds up to at list price. Below that you'll find pairing steps for E6 Connect and GSPro, a look at the routes that skip the PC, a short tour of three more Windows titles, and a symptom checklist for the days when shots stop arriving.

How we put this together: we compared published manufacturer specs, retailer listings and owner reports. We don't accept free gear, and links may earn us a commission.

Pick a software route in two questions

Start with the device. A Windows PC opens every title on this page. A Mac, an iPad, an iPhone or an Android tablet narrows the list quickly. Then ask what you want out of a session:

  • Windows, and you want realistic course play with an active community: GSPro.
  • Windows or iPad, and you want polished visuals and multiplayer: E6 Connect.
  • Any device, and you want the fewest moving parts: SkyTrak Course Play inside the SkyTrak app.
  • iPad, and you want casual tablet golf: WGT by Topgolf.
  • Windows, and you want the biggest course count: TGC 2019.
  • Windows, and you want family games: Creative Golf 3D or ProTee Play.

There's no single winner here. A Windows household with a teenager who wants party games has a different answer than a golfer on an iPad who wants a quiet round of Course Play. Pick the device first, then the play style, and only then compare prices. If you're also choosing a complete package, simulator packages built around SkyTrak is the better starting point.

Mac owners have one dependable path, the SkyTrak app with Course Play. Windows titles need a Windows machine or a virtual machine running Windows, and the software makers don't officially support that setup on a Mac. How well it works depends a lot on the specific Mac, so treat it as a workaround rather than a plan. Windows offers the widest choice, so if you're starting from scratch and want the most options, a Windows PC is the least restrictive base.

The SkyTrak membership you pay before any software

Third-party software won't connect without a SkyTrak membership, so treat the membership as a fixed cost that sits under every other option. The current plans at time of writing are:

PlanPrice at time of writingWhat it includes
EssentialAbout $129.99 per yearThe baseline, and the requirement for third-party software
CoreAbout $299 per yearEssential plus the Foresight course library
EliteAbout $599 per yearAdds the Trackman course library on top
Course Play add-onAbout $220 per yearAdded on top of Essential; check which library it includes

The older Play & Improve plan has been replaced by Essential, Core and Elite. SkyTrak has changed plan names and bundles in recent years, so confirm the current terms on its site before you pay. Compare the Course Play add-on with Core, since Core already includes a course library. WGT access used to come bundled with the old plan, and today it depends on which plan you hold. For a wider look at how simulator software is priced across brands, see how simulator software subscriptions are structured.

What each combination costs over one and three years

These totals use list prices at time of writing. Each software row adds the Essential membership to the software cost. The Core and Elite rows already include their membership tier. Check current pricing before you buy, because every number here moves.

CombinationYear 1Each year afterThree-year total
Core alone$299.00$299.00$897.00
Essential + ProTee Play ($149 per year)$278.99$278.99$836.97
Essential + GSPro ($250 per year)$379.99$379.99$1,139.97
Essential + E6 Basic ($300 per year)$429.99$429.99$1,289.97
Essential + E6 Expanded ($600 per year)$729.99$729.99$2,189.97
Essential + Creative Golf 3D (about $400 one time)$529.99$129.99$789.97
Essential + TGC 2019 annual ($479 per year)$608.99$608.99$1,826.97
Essential + TGC 2019 one time ($950)$1,079.99$129.99$1,339.97
Elite$599.00$599.00$1,797.00

Three things stand out.

One-time licenses pull ahead once you keep the setup for three years or more. Creative Golf 3D and TGC 2019 cost more in year one than GSPro does, but after that they add only the membership. Over three years, Creative Golf 3D comes in about $350 below GSPro, and the gap grows with every extra year you keep it.

Annual subscriptions are easier to walk away from. If your plans change or you stop playing, you aren't left holding a license you paid for up front.

Licenses are usually tied to the SkyTrak unit ID, so check transfer rules before you upgrade hardware. A one-time license that doesn't move with you is a cost you carry into your next unit.

Pairing E6 Connect on a Windows PC or an iPad

E6 Connect runs on Windows and iOS, with Basic at about $300 per year and Expanded at about $600 per year at time of writing. The two platforms share the same goal but differ in setup details, so the steps below are split by platform. For a broader explanation of how the software talks to the launch monitor, read how E6 Connect works.

Before you pair E6

Work through this list before you open the software:

  • An active Essential plan. Third-party software won't pair without it.
  • SkyTrak+ powered on, aligned and reading shots in the SkyTrak range view. If it isn't, fix placement first using the SkyTrak ball placement guide.
  • On Windows, the 64-bit SkyTrak app installed.
  • A USB-C or network connection ready. USB-C is the steadier choice, but Wi-Fi works if you can't reach the unit with a cable.

E6 pairing sequence

On Windows:

  1. Install E6 Connect.
  2. Open its device settings and choose SkyTrak+ as the device.
  3. Hit a test shot and confirm the ball data appears.

On iOS:

  1. Install the E6 app.
  2. Pair to SkyTrak+ from the app's device menu.
  3. Confirm ball flight data comes through on a test shot.

If you've been running the SkyTrak app on the same iPad or iPhone, close it completely before you pair. A copy left running in the background can block the handshake, so quit it fully rather than just switching away from it.

E6 settings to change on day one

  • Graphics: If the picture stutters, force E6 onto the discrete GPU rather than integrated graphics. Integrated chips are the first place to look when frames start to drop.
  • Course rules: Set green speed, wind and mulligan rules for your group before the first round, so nobody has to stop play to change them.
  • Latency: Before hosting an online multiplayer round, test latency with one friend. A session that looks fine solo can lag once a second player joins over the network.

Pairing GSPro on Windows

GSPro costs about $250 per year at time of writing, on top of the Essential membership. Its connection has historically run through the GSPro Open API connector rather than an official SkyTrak integration. Check whether SkyTrak now offers a direct GSPro connection before you buy, because a direct link would change the setup steps below.

Before you pair GSPro

  • A Windows PC with a solid dedicated GPU and 16GB of RAM. What that means in practice is covered in PC specs for GSPro and E6. A gaming-class GPU is advised if you plan to output at 1440p or 4K.
  • A stable internet connection.
  • A GSPro license.
  • The connector software.
  • SkyTrak+ updated and reading shots in the range view.

GSPro pairing sequence

  1. Install GSPro.
  2. Install the connector and select SkyTrak as the device.
  3. In GSPro's device settings, choose Other (OpenAPI). This choice is what makes the handshake work, so don't skip it.
  4. Hit a few test balls. If no numbers appear, restart the connector and try USB-C instead of Wi-Fi.

Putting and stability settings in GSPro

  • Hit a handful of shots and compare carry and spin in GSPro against the SkyTrak app. If they're far apart, recheck the device selection before you trust either set of numbers.
  • Tune gimme range and minimum putt speed until putting feels natural. Small changes here show up quickly on the green.
  • Use USB-C where you can. It's usually steadier than Wi-Fi, especially for putting.
  • Update GSPro and the connector together. Mismatched versions can produce ghost shots.
  • Community courses and online events, such as SGT, accept SkyTrak players. Support is community driven, so expect answers from other users rather than a vendor help desk.

Routes that skip the PC: Course Play and WGT

If you want fewer moving parts, these two routes skip the connector and the PC entirely.

SkyTrak Course Play inside the SkyTrak app

  1. Make sure your plan includes Course Play. It requires Essential, plus the Course Play add-on at about $220 per year, or Core (which bundles the Foresight library) or Elite (which adds the Trackman library).
  2. Update the SkyTrak app to version 5.x before you start.
  3. Open the course library, download the packs tied to your plan, pick a course and swing.

There's no connector to configure, so connection problems are rarer than on the PC routes. Course choice is the real decision. The Foresight library leans toward popular layouts and polished visuals, while the Trackman library offers a broader international mix. Choose based on the courses you actually want to play.

WGT by Topgolf on an iPhone or iPad

  1. Put SkyTrak+ into Network Mode. WGT won't find the unit without it.
  2. Launch WGT and let it search for SkyTrak+. Shots should register once it connects.
  3. If it fails, restart the app, rejoin your Wi-Fi network and try again.

WGT plays like a casual mobile golf game, not a full simulator. It runs on iOS only, offers few settings, and has no Windows version. It was once bundled with the old Play & Improve plan and is no longer free by default, so access depends on your plan.

Three more Windows titles worth a look

All three run on Windows and require the Essential plan. Each one suits a different kind of session.

TGC 2019: the deepest course catalog

TGC 2019 is Windows only and has the largest library on this page, including user-created courses. The publisher reports more than 100,000 courses, a figure worth confirming on the current product page before you rely on it. The title also includes competition modes. Pricing is about $479 per year or $950 one time at time of writing. Choose it if course variety matters more to you than anything else.

Creative Golf 3D with Golfisimo: family mini-games

Creative Golf 3D mixes traditional courses with mini-games such as demolition golf and putting challenges. Golfisimo adds more party modes on top. It costs about $400 one time through SkyTrak at time of writing and runs on Windows. This one is about entertainment over realism. A demolition round won't sharpen your real swing, but it will keep a group busy on a wet afternoon.

ProTee Play: arcade games for a crowd

ProTee Play is browser based and ties into SkyTrak. Its games include zombie golf, soccer golf and darts played with clubs. At about $149 per year it's the cheapest software route on this page, and setup is simple on Windows. Its strength is group play, not course accuracy, so don't judge it against GSPro or E6.

Shots not arriving? Work through this symptom list

Start at the top and stop at the first item that matches what you're seeing.

  • The software sees no device. Confirm Essential is active, that the SkyTrak app and firmware are up to date, and that you chose the right device: Other (OpenAPI) in GSPro, SkyTrak+ in E6. For error text, see SkyTrak error messages and fixes.
  • WGT can't find the unit. Confirm SkyTrak+ is in Network Mode, which WGT requires.
  • E6 on iOS won't handshake. Close the SkyTrak app completely. A copy running in the background blocks the connection.
  • Dropped shots or lag. Switch from Wi-Fi to USB-C. If Wi-Fi is the only option, work through fixing Wi-Fi disconnects.
  • Ghost or duplicate shots in GSPro. The connector and GSPro versions are out of sync. Update both together.
  • Putts feel inconsistent. Move to USB-C first, then adjust gimme range and minimum putt speed.
  • Stutter. Force the discrete GPU, check your PC against the spec list, and lower the output resolution. The SkyTrak freezing fixes cover the longer list.
  • A feature disappeared after renewal. Plan names and bundles have changed in recent years. Compare your current plan with the software you use.
  • A connector stops working after an update. Unofficial connectors can need a community fix after an update, so test before an event.

Questions SkyTrak owners ask before subscribing

Do I still need a SkyTrak membership if I already pay for GSPro?

Yes. Third-party software needs at least the Essential plan on top of the software license. Essential is about $129.99 per year at time of writing, so a GSPro license at about $250 per year works out to roughly $379.99 per year all in. Confirm current plan terms before you buy, since SkyTrak has changed plan names and bundles in recent years.

Which route costs least per year if I only want to play courses?

Core at about $299 per year includes Essential plus the Foresight course library, with no extra software license needed. Essential plus ProTee Play is cheaper at about $278.99 per year, but it gives you arcade games rather than course play. If you keep the setup for three years or more, a one-time license such as TGC 2019 or Creative Golf 3D can come out ahead of the annual options.

Can I keep the SkyTrak app open while E6 Connect is running?

The answer depends on your platform. On Windows, E6 needs the 64-bit SkyTrak app installed. On iOS, a SkyTrak app left running in the background can block the E6 handshake, so close it fully before you pair.

Is an Android tablet enough to play courses with SkyTrak+?

The SkyTrak app runs on Android, so Course Play inside the app is the Android route. Confirm Course Play is available on your Android version before you buy. GSPro, E6 Connect, TGC 2019 and WGT don't run on Android with SkyTrak.

Does an older original SkyTrak run the same programs as SkyTrak+?

Many titles support both models, but compatibility and plan requirements differ by vendor, so check each vendor's list for the unit you own. Licenses are usually tied to the unit ID, so ask about transfer rules before you upgrade hardware.
