SkyTrak Plus With the SIG8 Enclosure: Is the Bundle Worth $7,700?
Our SkyTrak+ SIG8 package review covers room fit, what is in the box, which software plan you get, the full upgrade price ladder and three bundles to compare.
The SkyTrak+ SIG8 package is a complete indoor setup from one seller. You get a SkyTrak+ launch monitor, Shop Indoor Golf's SIG8 enclosure and the studio parts you need to hit into a screen, for about $7,700 at time of writing. The frame is 8 ft 4 in square, and the seller says it fits rooms as narrow as 9 ft, which makes it worth a close look if your spare room is on the narrow side.
The short answer is that this is a good fit for a narrow room if you want one box, one seller and a first year of software included. It is a weaker choice if you need to pick each component yourself, or if you expect the total to stay near the base price. Add the upgrades the seller lists and the fully loaded figure reaches about $13,400, and every year of software after the first is a recurring cost on top of that.
The room check comes first in this review because the frame size decides whether everything else matters. The software ladder comes next, since it drives your cost after year one. The rest of the page covers what is in the box, the data you get on each shot, assembly, and the alternatives in the same lineup.
How we put this together: we compared published manufacturer and retailer specs and the package descriptions from each seller, then applied the criteria below. We don't accept free gear, and links may earn us a commission.

|---|---|---|---|
| SkyTrak Plus SIG8 Golf Simulator Package | Pick for rooms around 9 to 10 feet wide | Narrow spare rooms that want one box and one seller | About $7,700 base |
| SkyTrak Plus SIG10 Golf Simulator Package | Step up if you have about a foot and a half more width | Wider rooms that want a bigger picture | Check current listing |
| SkyTrak Plus SIG12 Golf Simulator Package | For wide rooms that want the biggest SIG screen | Largest SIG screen from this retailer | Check current listing |
| SkyTrak Plus PerfectBay Golf Simulator Package | If you want to choose every component | Buyers who want to mix projector, mat and software | Check current listing |
| SkyTrak Plus SwingBay Golf Simulator Package | If the frame matters more than bundled courses | Buyers who put the frame first and add courses later | Check current listing |
Verdict on the SkyTrak+ and SIG8 bundle
The SkyTrak+ SIG8 package makes sense when your room is about 9 to 10 ft wide and you want one purchase that covers the launch monitor, the enclosure and the studio parts. The 8 ft 4 in frame is compact enough for narrow rooms, the kit comes from a single seller, and the first year of Play & Improve software is included. SkyTrak+ also works with a broad range of third-party simulator software, which leaves you room to change programs later. If you want the hardware reviewed on its own, see our SkyTrak+ launch monitor review first.
The main catch is software. Year one is covered, but every year after that is a subscription, and third-party programs cost extra on top of the plan they need. Once you add the listed upgrades, the seller's fully loaded figure reaches about $13,400. Treat the $7,700 base as the starting point, not the total you should budget for.
This page is compiled from Shop Indoor Golf and SkyTrak published information and the package descriptions we compared. We have not assembled the package ourselves, so where the sources disagree or leave a detail open, we say so and point you to the check to run before ordering.
Who should buy it, size up, or skip it
Buy it if all of these fit:
- Your room is roughly 9 to 10 ft wide, and the 8 ft 4 in frame clears your ceiling and swing
- You want one box from one seller rather than sourcing parts yourself
- You are happy starting with SkyTrak's own courses and range for a year
Size up to the SIG10 or SIG12 if:
- You have more width than the SIG8 needs and want a bigger picture
- You have about a foot and a half of extra width, or more, to spare after the frame goes in
Skip it, or look at other options, if:
- You need a fully filled widescreen image. The screen is square and the sources disagree on how much a 4 image fills it, so check before you order.
- You want to pick each component yourself. The PerfectBay option is built for that.
- You already own a launch monitor and only need an enclosure. The SIG8 Studio sold alone starts from about $3,499 without a launch monitor.
Room check: does an 8 ft 4 in frame fit your space?
Start with the frame itself. The SIG8 Studio spec lists it at 8 ft 4 in high, 8 ft 4 in wide and 5 ft deep. The seller says it fits rooms as narrow as 9 ft, but that leaves very little margin, so do the subtraction yourself before you count on it. Measure at floor level and again at the height of the projector, because walls are rarely as straight as they look.
Width. Subtract the frame width from the room width and split the remainder between the two sides. In a 10 ft spare room, that is 120 in minus 100 in, which leaves 20 in in total, or 10 in on each side. In a 9 ft room, 108 in minus 100 in leaves 8 in, or 4 in on each side. Four inches is workable on paper, but any door trim, radiator or protruding outlet eats into it, and a wider stance or a chair you need to slide past the frame will not fit comfortably. If that squeeze is a problem, look at other compact simulator setups before committing.
Height. The frame is 8 ft 4 in tall, so the ceiling has to clear that height plus room for your swing. Measure to the lowest point of the ceiling, including light fixtures and beams, not the middle of the room. The ceiling height for a full swing guide covers how much clearance a full swing needs, and it is worth reading before you order rather than after.
Depth. The package footprint in the seller material is about 8 ft 4 in by 8 ft 4 in by 13 ft 7 in. The material does not spell out what each dimension measures, so read the 13 ft 7 in figure as total depth including the hitting area until the retailer confirms it. On that reading, a 14 ft room leaves 5 in to split between the front and back of the setup, which is not much. Plan where the projector hangs, because the ceiling mount and the cable run both need clear space.
Landing area. The landing turf measures 8 ft 2 in wide by 8 ft deep, so it sits slightly narrower than the frame. Lay it out on the floor with painter's tape before the enclosure arrives. A marked footprint takes ten minutes and tells you more than any spec sheet.
What arrives in the boxes, and what you still provide
The package material lists the contents below. The sources do not always agree on the details, so the table flags the items that need a check before you rely on them.
| Item | Status |
|---|---|
| SkyTrak+ launch monitor | Included |
| Aluminum frame bars and SIGPRO impact screen | Included |
| 5 x 5 ft Fairway Series hitting mat with rubber tee holders | Included as the standard mat |
| Side netting and projector ceiling mount | Included |
| WXGA projector, 1280 x 800, 3,600 lumens | Listed in the SIG8 Studio spec. Confirm it ships with this bundle. |
| Landing pad turf and 50 ft HDMI cable | Included per the SIG8 Studio parts list |
| Hardware, ball bungees, hook-and-loop strips, manuals and install guides | Included |
| Computer or tablet to run the software | Not included |
| Third-party simulator software | Not included |
| Upgraded mat or flooring | Not included |
The screen measures 7 ft 7 in by 7 ft 7 in, and this is where the sources conflict. One says a 4
image fills the screen completely. Another seller description says the image fills about 80 percent and leaves space above and below. A 4 image is wider than it is tall, so on a square screen it either leaves bands at the top and bottom or gets cropped to fill the height. Ask Shop Indoor Golf how the image is sized on the SIG8 before you order, and ask whether the projector can be set to fill the screen without losing content you care about. What SkyTrak+ measures on every shot
The table below lists the data fields the package material gives for each shot. It is the same information you would see in the connected app or the simulator software, which the material says shows results within seconds.
| Shot data | Ball data | Club data |
|---|---|---|
| Angle of descent | Backspin | Club path |
| Max height | Sidespin | Angle of attack |
| Carry | Ball speed | Smash factor |
| Run | Side angle | Face to path |
| Total distance | Launch angle | Face to target |
| Distance offline | Club head speed |
The technology is where the sources need care. The package material says SkyTrak+ uses a high-speed camera for ball data and Doppler radar for club data, and one source describes that radar as dual. Check SkyTrak's current spec sheet for the exact sensor setup, since product details change between versions. Do not assume the sensor description tells you more about accuracy than it does.
Some values are measured directly and others are calculated from the launch data. The material does not say which figure falls into which group, so do not claim one or the other for a specific number unless SkyTrak's documentation says so. That distinction matters when you compare your numbers with a practice log or a coach's notes.
On accuracy, the package material claims close agreement with TrackMan but does not cite a study behind the claim. Read that as a claim rather than a result. We have not put a percentage on accuracy here. The SkyTrak vs TrackMan comparison explains how the two systems differ and where the gap matters for a home setup.
Software plans and what each one adds
The subscription ladder drives your long-term cost more than the enclosure does, so it deserves the same attention as the frame.
| Plan | Price per year | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
| Basic Range | Not stated in the sources | Target practice with shot trace, driving range distance challenges, skills challenges and basic 3D tracers |
| Game Improvement | About $99 at time of writing | More challenges and game-improvement modes; required for third-party software |
| Play & Improve | About $199.99 at time of writing | Playable courses, multiplayer and online play; the material lists 15 WGT courses plus 15 E6 Connect courses (confirm with the maker) |
The SIG8 package includes the first year of Play & Improve, which is the most complete plan on the ladder. The year-one value is real, but the choice you make when the included year ends decides what you pay from then on. Basic Range is the entry plan, Game Improvement is the middle tier and the minimum for third-party software, and Play & Improve is the plan with courses.
After the first year: renewal choices
When the included year ends you have three options. You can renew Play & Improve at about $199.99 a year, drop to Game Improvement at about $99 a year, or fall back to Basic Range. Playable courses are the main reason to pay the higher figure, so be honest about how often you would play them. If you mostly drill and practice, Game Improvement is the cheaper route, and it still opens the third-party programs.
Third-party simulator programs and their price tags
The package material lists The Golf Club 2019 (TGC 2019), TruGolf E6 Connect, Creative Golf 3D, WGT Golf and ProTee Play as compatible. Check current availability before you buy, because the sources leave TGC 2019 availability open. Every third-party program needs at least the Game Improvement plan, so budget for that tier as the minimum once you go beyond SkyTrak's own software.
The add-on prices in the package material are about $895 for TGC 2019, about $1,500 for E6 Connect on iOS and about $2,500 for E6 Connect on PC. These are list prices at time of writing. A PC version of a program can also need a stronger computer than the one you already own, which is a cost that does not show up on the seller's price list. For how these subscriptions add up over several years, read how software subscriptions add up, and for the computer you will need, see PC specs for simulator software.
Price ladder: from $7,700 to about $13,400
The base package is about $7,700 at time of writing. The upgrades listed in the package material stack up quickly:
- Mat: a 4 x 7 ft SIGPro mat replaces the standard 5 x 5 ft Fairway Series mat. The package material does not give a price for this swap, so ask before you assume it is free.
- Flooring: the SIG8 Golf Simulator Flooring adds about $3,200.
- Software: TGC 2019 adds about $895, E6 Connect on iOS adds about $1,500, and E6 Connect on PC adds about $2,500.
The seller puts the fully loaded total at about $13,400. Not every buyer needs every upgrade, so work out which ones your room and your practice habits justify before you treat that figure as the budget.
Three-year examples make the software cost easier to see. Each one counts the included first year, then the paid renewals for years two and three.
Example A, staying on Play & Improve: $7,700 + 2 x $199.99 = about $8,100 over three years.
Example B, adding E6 Connect on PC and keeping Game Improvement for years two and three: $7,700 + $2,500 + 2 x $99 = about $10,398, plus a PC to run it on.
The gap between the two is more than $2,000, and most of it comes from the add-on program rather than the subscription. If you already plan to use a third-party program, Example B is the realistic number. If you are happy with SkyTrak's own courses, Example A is the number to compare against other packages.
Financing is available. Shop Indoor Golf advertises financing from 0% APR for qualified buyers. Confirm the current terms before you apply, and read the paying for a simulator over time guide to compare the total cost of each option rather than the monthly payment alone.
All figures are list prices at time of writing and should be checked against the seller's site before you order.
Check SkyTrak+ SIG8 package priceAssembly: two people, one afternoon
The seller estimates 2 to 3 hours with two people. Plan for the longer end if this is your first build, and do not start until the floor space is cleared and the mat is in its final spot. The sequence is:
- Build the frame and attach the SIGPRO screen with ball bungees and hook-and-loop strips.
- Fit the ceiling bracket and mount the projector above the mat.
- Lay and level the mat and turf, then hang the side netting.
- Connect the computer to the projector by HDMI.
- Position and calibrate SkyTrak+, then adjust the projector image to the screen.
The order matters because the projector has to be aimed at a finished screen, and the launch monitor has to sit where the ball line will be correct. Step five is the one to slow down on. Position SkyTrak+ according to SkyTrak's ball placement guide, which covers positioning the SkyTrak+ correctly. If the projected image and the ball position are off, fix the projector alignment before you spend time fine-tuning the launch monitor, because the calibration only holds once the image sits properly in the screen.
A common mistake with two-person builds is rushing the bracket. Once the ceiling mount is out of level, every later adjustment takes longer, so check it with a level before you tighten anything for good.
Other SkyTrak+ bundles to compare
The three alternatives use the same launch monitor, so the decision comes down to the enclosure, the screen width and how much of the kit you want chosen for you. For the full list, see every SkyTrak+ package we cover.
SIG10 and SIG12: the same kit with wider screens
Both come from Shop Indoor Golf with the same build and the same included software. The SIG10 has a 10 ft wide screen, and the SIG12 has a 12 ft wide screen and is the retailer's largest SIG enclosure. Choose either one when your room is wider than the 9 to 10 ft the SIG8 suits, because a wider frame needs more floor space and more clearance on each side. The SIG12 package review goes into its fit and setup in more detail.
PerfectBay from Top Shelf Golf: choose each component
Top Shelf Golf lets you pick the parts. You choose between two projectors and a ceiling or floor mount, select a mat from Net Return or Fiberbuilt in several sizes, and pick software from Basic Range, Game Improvement, Game Improvement with WGT or E6 Connect, or Play & Improve. Enclosure widths are 10.5 ft for the PerfectBay, 12 ft for the PLUS and 13.5 ft for the WIDE. The trade-off is that upgrades cost extra and you make every matching decision yourself. That suits buyers who already know which projector, mat and software they want.
SwingBay from Rain or Shine: frame first, courses later
Rain or Shine's SwingBay is a premium push-button frame with blacked-out side walls, which help image contrast. Upgrades include a larger mat, landing pad turf and an optional gaming laptop. The bundle ships with a one-year Game Improvement plan only, so there are no playable courses until you upgrade to Play & Improve or add third-party software. Choose it if the frame matters more to you than the courses that come with the other packages, and budget for the software upgrade if you want to play on screen from the first week.
Compare other SkyTrak+ bundlesQuestions to answer before ordering
Most buyers ask the same handful of questions before they commit. The answers below cover the gaps the sections above leave open.
Does the SIG8 package work for left-handed golfers?
SkyTrak+ sits beside the ball on the side facing the golfer, so a left-hander moves it to the other side. Confirm the placement guidance with SkyTrak first. In an 8 ft 4 in frame, check there is room for the unit and a lefty stance, and households with both kinds of golfer should test both positions before settling on a layout. For more on setups for left- and right-handed players, the roundup walks through the trade-offs.
Do I need a gaming PC to run it?
You do not need a gaming PC for SkyTrak's own app plans, which the package material says run on mobile devices and PC. E6 Connect comes in an iOS version for about $1,500 and a PC version for about $2,500, so an iOS route exists. Heavier PC programs need a capable Windows PC, so check the requirements before you buy.
Can I move up to a bigger SIG enclosure later?
Yes. SkyTrak+ is separate hardware, so it moves to any enclosure. SIG10 and SIG12 come from the same retailer, so ask Shop Indoor Golf whether frame parts or the screen can be reused or traded, since the sources do not say.
Can I buy the SIG8 enclosure without SkyTrak+?
Yes. The SIG8 Golf Sim Studio is sold on its own from about $3,499, including the projector, ceiling mount, turf and HDMI cable. It does not include a launch monitor or software, so it suits buyers who already have those.
Is there a financing option for the package?
Shop Indoor Golf advertises financing with rates from 0% for qualified buyers. Confirm the current terms and length, since they can change. Compare the total interest you would pay before you choose.
